Attorney Profile

For fifteen years, Katherine Shlaudeman has been helping clients resolve their family law disputes through litigation, mediation, and collaboration. She helps clients with a wide range of issues, including divorces of same sex and opposite sex couples, the division and valuation of marital property, child and spousal support, child custody, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. She is an experienced family law litigator and has provided clients with committed and effective representation throughout the Bay Area.

Katherine also is a trained and experienced mediator and Collaborative Practice (also known as Collaborative Law) attorney who is committed to helping clients stay out of court when possible and find their own solutions. She is a volunteer mediator for the San Francisco Superior Court, Secretary of the board of Collaborative Practice San Francisco, and a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She was a guest on a segment of Chuck Finney’s “Your Legal Rights” radio show devoted to Collaborative Practice in family law.

Katherine is the former Chair of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco and a Legislative Liaison for the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar of California. She has been a presenter for the State Bar of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco on family law mediation, premarital agreements, and tax issues in family law.

Katherine started her practice of law at Morrison & Foerster working in the tax and business departments. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with honors from Stanford University and went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law, where she received several academic awards, including an American Jurisprudence award. She also earned an LLM in tax law from Golden Gate University Law School. Katherine has lived and worked in South America and is fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
